The Court of Honour is a body of Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry for proceeding on the basis reports of violation of fair business practices and business ethics committed by businessmen who have a seat or conduct activities on the City of Belgrade territory. The Court has been active since 1913.

The Court of Honour is working on the grounds of law, Chamber Statute, Rulebook on work and organization of the Court of Honour, and other positive regulations relating to violation of fair business practices and business ethics.

The proceedings before the Court of Honour are public and urgent. The proceeding are initiated by bringing charges, which may be brought in front of the Court of Honour by its prosecutor, businessmen, state authorities and members of the public.

The deadline for bringing charges is six months from the date of observation of violation and/or one year from the date of violation of fair business practices and business ethics.

The most frequent violations of fair business practices and business ethics are:

  • Violation of contractual obligations;
  • Provision of bad service under the pretence of good service;
  • Sale of defective goods and denial of justified claims;
  • Sale of goods with elapsed expiration date;
  • Overcharging;
  • Switching of orders and defaulting in obligations;
  • Conducting activities without permission-registration from/with competent  authority;
  • Failing to issue a receipt or issuing a receipt under somebody else s name
  • Failing to register employees, non-payment of insurance contributions for employees to appropriate funds;

 In the proceedings before the Court of Honour the following disciplinary measures are brought:

  • Oral reprimand
  • Written reprimand
  • Public reprimand promulgated at the Board of the relevant Chamber Association Board
  • Public reprimand promulgated at the Managing Board of the Chamber
  • Public reprimand promulgated through mass media
  • Ban on performing activities for 3 to 6 months

Alongside these measures remedies may be pronounced, which are:

  • Ban on participation in boards and bodies of the Chamber
  • Ban on participation at fairs and exhibitions
  • Ban on self-employment of an entrepreneur for a specific time period
  • Permanent ban on performing activities and deletion from the Entrepreneurial Registry
