July 27, 2009   "PLAY TO STOP – EUROPE FOR CLIMATE"  EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND MTV CAPAIGN

The European Commission and international TV station MTV launched the capaign ’’Play to Stop – Europe for Climate’’. The action will last six months and it will include eleven EU member states: Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Sweden, and UK. In order to involve large number of young population in the campaign (the main target group), MTV will run various spots and commercials about climate changes, to raise their awareness about adverse effects of those changes on environment. The European Commission and MTV see this 6-month manifestation as a good chance for young peopole to learn more about dangers from environmental destruction and to exchange ideas on how to protect the environment.
In addition, world-known music celebrities will give three concerts in Stockholm, Budapest and Copenhagen, which will be aired on MTV. Each of the concerts will be dedicated to a different topic related to climate changes. Thus, in Stocholm, the concert theme is going to be ’’World Water Day’’, in Budapest ’’Mobility Week’’. The first performance will be by Moby, In Stockholm, on August 20. Famous persons from participating countries, who will act as their ambassadors in promotion of environmental protection, will host several parties.
